The "Handing over Ceremony" of the LAKU new Chairmanship from Yang Berbahagia Dato Ir Alice Jawan Empaling (who covered the duties of LAKU Chairman since the passing of Yang Berbahagia Datuk Ahmad Lai Bin Bujang) to Yang Berbahagia Datuk Nelson Balang Rining witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Ak Utom, Minister of Water Utilities Sarawak was held in LAKU office on Monday, 6 July 2020. Yang Berbahagia Datuk Nelson was appointed to be the Chairman of LAKU Management effective 20 February 2020. Yang berbahagia originated from Ba’kelalan, Lawas. He is a Lun Bawang, married to Datin Evelyn Anak Thomas with 2 beautiful children. He started his career in the banking line in 1978 and then in 2001, he was the private Secretary to the late Dato Dr Judson Sakai Tagal (former assistant Minister of Infrastructure, Development and Communication Sarawak). In 2004, he was elected the State Assemblyman for Ba’kelalan for a period of 2 terms. Yang Berbahagia is a very successful Entrepreneur. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Oceancare Sdn Bhd, an oil and gas company. Presently, he is a Vice President of Orang Ulu Chamber of Commerce and Industries and active members of other bodies.
